Bullying and cyber-bullying have taken the forefront in national headlines on almost a weekly basis along with sexting and bullycide (suicide due to bullying). With our ever-advancing technology and our kids’ knowledge far exceeding the adults in this arena, this problem will only continue to get worse as cyberspace has become the new “bathroom wall” with the exception that is never erased. Bullying not only effects self-esteem and can lead to depression and suicide, but what most people overlook is the effects that it has on the learning environment.
Midwest Center for School Safety was founded by Byron Utter and Terry Stulken and has recently added an additional presenter by the name of Kelly Eisemann. Combined we bring in almost 75 years of experience as professional educators and administrators. We have spoken to schools, businesses, and keynote addresses in the North Dakota. South Dakota, Minnesota, and Iowa. To date MCSS given over 900 presentations and reached an estimated 55,000 students in four states. A typical presentation includes separate sessions for elementary, middle school/junior high, high school, staff, support staff, and parents/community. Sessions vary in length from 30 minutes to 90 minutes depending on the needs of the school.
